Why we exist
Every handoff is a place for money to slip.
The pattern we kept seeing was always the same. A bookkeeper here. A biller there. An agency somewhere else. None of them talking to each other, all of them invoicing, and nobody accountable for the whole picture.
Money rarely leaves a business dramatically. It leaks — in the deduction nobody caught, the claim nobody reworked, the invoice that aged past collectible, the close that lands three weeks late and turns every decision into a guess. Sterling exists to put one accountable partner across all of it.
What we believe
Accountability beats tooling. Software doesn't own a result. A named professional does.
AI belongs in the first pass, not the last. It clears volume; a qualified person decides.
Price should be knowable up front. Fixed and itemized, in writing, before work starts.
Say the honest thing. Including when the answer is that you don't need us.
The people
Named people. Owning real results.
120 years of combined experience — Big 4 audit, US HR, healthcare revenue cycle, enterprise IT delivery and quality systems. Every engagement has a director accountable for it and a named point of contact who answers on your business hours.

Quality systems & governance
Most back-office errors aren’t one-off mistakes. They come from missing controls. Anwar spent nearly 19 years at General Motors as a supplier-quality engineer and ISO 9001 lead auditor; built-in quality at GM’s Indianapolis stamping plant improved by more than 400%, and his audit team earned GM’s “People Make Quality Happen” award. As Chairman of GECG, Sterling’s US parent, he brings the same discipline to how our work is checked, documented and signed off.
Mohsin has spent 22+ years on the gap between “the books are done” and “the owner knows what to do next.” As Head of Client Services at Accountimize he ran full-charge bookkeeping, virtual-CFO and tax compliance for US and Canadian clients, then led FP&A, due diligence and valuation work at Forte Healthcare. He has filed with the IRS, CRA, HMRC and the UAE FTA, and designed Sterling’s close and reporting around the questions owners actually ask.
The HR mistakes that hurt small companies are rarely dramatic: a misclassified worker, a missed filing, a benefits lapse. Mariyam has spent 18 years preventing them — owning EEO-1, AAP, VETS-100 and Form 5500 compliance and benefits benchmarking for Daon across the Americas, as HR Business Partner at Science Group plc, and running ADP payroll and HR operations at Tecknomic and LinkVisum. PHR-certified and based in Washington, DC, she leads Sterling’s HR practice and is the US executive sponsor on every engagement.
Hasan knows what auditors, lenders and buyers look for in a set of books, because for 15 years he was the one looking. A CPA and ICAEW Chartered Accountant, he led audits for listed and private groups at KPMG (UK and Pakistan), EY, PKF and Azets — SOX engagements, consolidations and complex reporting under IFRS and UK GAAP — before moving into finance business partnering. At Sterling he sets the review standard every close is signed off against.

Billing usually fails when work queues slip, not because people don’t know the rules. Ahsan has 10+ years running operations teams in the UK, Australia and Pakistan — business operations and contract management at 10Pearls, operations delivery at the TASDEEQ credit bureau — after starting his career in accounts receivable and billing. He runs Sterling’s billing workflow: who works what, by when, and what happens when a claim stalls.

Most denials are decided before a claim is sent: at the front desk, in the documentation and in the code. Umair has spent 10+ years in the healthcare revenue cycle, working up from accounts receivable and claims follow-up to healthcare quality, supervising a billing and coding department, and HCC risk-adjustment coding for Medicare ACO practices. He leads Sterling’s medical billing and RCM practice, from eligibility and coding to denials and collections.
The hard part of automation isn’t building the bot. It’s getting it into production safely and keeping it there. Ali has 15+ years delivering technology for HMRC, Nationwide, HSBC and Tesco. He leads delivery on the University of East London’s £19m intelligent-automation programme — 16+ automations through testing and change approval into production, more than 1,000 hours of manual work removed — and has led generative-AI services for NHS practices with human review built in. Those results belong to those organisations; the method is what he brings to Sterling.

Buyers judge a business in seconds, long before they read the pricing. Shahvaiz has designed brand identities, artwork and campaign creative since 2020 — currently as Assistant Design Manager at Sveston Watches, previously at Vrexx, RAPTR Games and Letscodify. He leads Sterling’s campaigns, landing pages and content, working with Mohsin so every page is measured against what it brings in.
